The Page-Walker
Arts & History Center in Cary, North Carolina
announced the juried exhibition, ARTQUILTSencrustations.
Our goal is to display only embellished quilts.
These will not be limited to crazy quilts, though
this genre will be represented.
The item must be a quilt (defined as having three
layers: a backing, a batting and a front fabric).
However, if the quilt only has those three layers,
it will not qualify for this exhibition. In addition
to the three layers, each quilt needs to include
a significant amount of one or several of the following:
embellishments, ornaments, beading, buttons, attachments,
dye-painting, stamping, three-dimensionality, embroidery,
trapunto, couching, additional layers of fabric,
and so forth.
Approximately 34 embellished quilts of all sized
will be accepted. One-third of the accepted works
will be large (53"-105" wide), one-third
will be medium sized (31"-52" wide), and
one-third will be small (7"-30" wide).
The maximum height is 103". |
