Arts & History Center in Cary, North Carolina
from April 30-May 31, 2004. ARTQUILTSelements
is an exhibition of 49 art quilts made by 42 nationally
known, award-winning quilt artists. These 49 pieces
were selected from international entries and juried
by Kathleen Rieder, from the School of Design at
North Carolina State University, and Georgia Springer
of Meredith College.
The scope of the work includes representational
and abstract subject matter. The artists took the
theme of the elements, and interpreted it with their
own visions, using the colors of nature for inspiration.
Soft neutral colors, textures of the Earth in winter,
the deep blues of water are some of the design elements
used. There are also pieces depicting such varied
subjects as leaves, moving water, or aerial views
of the Earth.

is a program of the Professional Art Quilt Alliance-South
and the Town of Cary Parks, Recreation, and Cultural
Resources Department. |
