| Membership Benefits |
Our members
enjoy these benefits: |
| |
| Membership and Organization
|
We have an open door and noncompetitive policy
for new members. The number of members is not capped. No one's
work is judged or juried as a requirement to join us; anyone who
wishes to become more professional in the art quilt business,
and in other fiber arts, may join us.
We try to meet at least twice per year, in the spring and the fall.
Typically, our Spring meetings coincide with the annual juried art quilt
show and our Fall meetings
coincide
with a PAQA-South juried members' show each year. However, sometimes meetings are held at various locations in the southeastern US.
Both the spring and fall meetings are two days, Friday through
Saturday, and usually include a members' marketplace, a showcase
of current work, and workshops and discussions about professional
issues.
Members are encouraged to form satellite groups in their own locales
that meet more often. We have a minimal hierarchy. Our business
affairs are handled by small groups rather than by the entire
membership. |

| Membership Eligibility
|
Note:
At the f05 Conference, PAQA-South members voted to allow new members
to join without attending a meeting. Please stay tuned for more
information about the new process. You do not have to reside in
a southern state in order to join.
PAQA-South is open to anyone interested in making a career out
of cloth (art quilts, wearable art, art cloth) and willing to
share information that will help advance our professional careers.
You are NOT required to reside in the Southeastern United States
to become a PAQA-South member.
New members may join PAQA-South only in person at one of the biannual
business meetings. To be a current member (and to be listed as
a member here on our PAQA South web site), annual dues must have
been paid at the time of one of the two preceding business meetings.
Once you have become a dues-paying member, you are not required
to attend every business meeting, and you are not required to
renew your dues in person. See the next section on 'show / exhibition
eligibility' for attendance requirements for members-only show
eligibility. |
| |
| Exhibition Eligibility |
Eligibility to exhibition in a PAQA-South
exhibition is defined for each show, and is likely to change with
each exhibition. Some exhibitions will be open to art quilters
who are not members of PAQA-South and who do not reside in the
Southeastern United States. Other shows, particularly
PAQA-South members-only shows, will require both a paid-up PAQA-South
membership and also attendance at one or more PAQA-South meetings
within some specified time.
In past member exhibitions, we have specified that an exhibited
artists must be a paid-up member of PAQA-South and must have attended
at least one PAQA-South meeting during the preceeding two years
(twenty-four months). |

| Dues |
| A one year membership is available for $20
per year. The membership year is from November 1 to October
31 of the following year. |
